I attended my first trivia night at the early part of 2022 when looking for something to do with a friend one evening. I don’t consider myself an introverted person, but once they placed a buzzer in front of me, I realized that I was neither extroverted nor confident enough to shout my answers out in front of a crowd of people.

Then I realized that even if I had the confidence in my answer to yell it out, I wasn’t nearly quick enough to the buzzer. I couldn’t even read the question before people were buzzing in, so very quickly, my teammate and I fell embarrassingly far behind. “If this were music trivia, I feel like I’d at least stand a chance” I said as we finished our drinks & left in shame around halftime.

So I went home & I began to figure out a way to make a new trivia experience that people like myself would enjoy. That’s when What The Funk Music Trivia was born. I did my first pilot run at a golf bar called Caddy’s Delight & received some feedback. People loved it! And that’s how this journey began, with a solution to a personal problem that, as it turns out, other people had too.
